These are all images from either Google Images (advanced search), Wiki Commons, or Flickr. They all portray various settings within the 1930s-40s, depicting the time before or during the war. Looking into the picture quality and framing of each photo, this can help with the construction of my own photos, by matching each of these elements. Each photo has slight grain, the sky is always washed out, and the main focus of the image is central. These findings can be very beneficial to my work to help with the styling of my images, as well as using these images for various scenes.

LOCATION RESEARCH

Practicing portrater has helped with my confidence towards my project, understanding how to take various styles of portrait: constructed and natural. This has given me experience in how to direct subjects to get the right photo, as well as understanding when to take a photo during a natural setting. These various portraits have helped me develop my own style as a photographer, concentrating on dramatic lighting to bring out textures within the face, as well as controlling the depth of field, creating an interesting blur in the background, whilst also bringing the subject to the front of the image, making them the main focus. This has helped my creative development towards how I will go about shooting my film, concentrating on these elements whilst developing my film.

GEORGE HOWARD REES-JONES: DIRECTOR/PHOTOGRAPHER/EDITOR

Overall I feel I have enough quality and experience to explore this project in great detail. I will use various lighting set ups, as well as natural lighting to help develop my scenes. I will shoot mainly with a 50mm lens, but also use 35mm and 85mm lenses for varied shot types. Due to writing the script and reading the autobiography, I know enough information for the development of the characters and the overall story. The final film will have a mixture between historic and modern elements, overall creating a film that everyone can engage with and appreciate.

CRAIG CLAYTON: ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

As I have worked with Craig before on various projects, I know him well and he knows how I work. He will give me help framing and coordinating my shots, as well as having experience of shooting this style of film before. His input will be hugely appreciated as his styling of images is also similar to mine, so working together we can develop a successful film, with interesting shots, making a overall experimental cinematic film.

GEORGE COOPER: DRONE PHOTOGRAPHER

George is a quality drone user, and would help recreate shots that would look interesting from an arial view, giving context into the setting of the various locations, as well as creating a sense of loneliness, through vast empty spaces from arial shots. This will help create a more interesting film through various shot types used, helping explore the audiences imagination through multiple angles.

BEN REYNOLDS: PRODUCER

Ben is an experienced producer, and will help keep my shots organised. His efficient use of paper work and research will help the production process much easier. Ben is also experienced in the world of film festivals, so can help with exploring how to finish the film, to suit various festivals, as well as exploring numerous festivals where my work.
